This sounds stupid, or at best a bad decision made by manufacturing and sourcing together.
But let’s see the other side of the coin…
A true and fresh story.
Let’s take a user (without name) a car glass manufacturing company. The surface of the glass is coated, similar to the lenses of glasses, to achieve different properties such as scratch resistance, UV filter, light reflection, etc. These are delicate and critical processes, but basically do not require a clean classification. In terms of infrastructural investments, the investor does not even plan with clean room conditions. However, in the case of the car’s windshield, defects caused by surface contamination that are not yet visible to the naked eye are magnified by the coatings, and thus already reach the limit that can be perceived by the customer. Our partner, the glass factory, tested several cleanroom wipes and lint-free wipes, and in the end, they selected the ISO 4 certified product, which far exceeded the requirements.
This example demonstrates that clean products can be used as added value even in non-clean environments and how non-compliance with environmental cleanliness can be compensated.
By reducing visible surface defects, the expensive wipe pays for itself many times over.
Do not judge the needs only based on clasification of environment or process.
